Overview

Infectious diseases are an ever-present threat to humanity. In an increasingly connected world that depends on just-in-time supply chains, experts have consistently warned that pandemics are becoming more likely and more consequential.

Careful interventions at multiple levels can prevent pathogens with pandemic potential from emerging or enable them to be identified and contained before a pandemic occurs. We should prepare for the next pandemic, but we should also try to prevent it from occurring.

Good Ancestors progresses some of its pandemic prevention work as “Australians for Pandemic Prevention.” This helps align these efforts with our mission of safeguarding future generations while signalling our focus on nationwide collaboration. Because public health is a mature field and we respect the deep expertise involved, the best path to impact is often offering our skills to support and coordinate experts with shared values and concerns. Australians for Pandemic Prevention lets us deliver that support while centering the experts and their messages, not ourselves.

Our thanks go to the volunteers who support Australians for Pandemic Prevention and the experts who have collaborated with us on projects.
