Donation FAQs

Are donations to Good Ancestors Policy tax deductible in Australia?

No. Under Australian tax law, donations to charities tackling existential risks, protecting future generations, or improving wellbeing are not able to be claimed as deductions. This is something we are hoping will change. In the meantime, one option is to reduce the amount you would donate by the amount you would be eligible to claim as a deduction. This allows you to support high-impact charities without being worse off yourself.

What forms of payment do you accept?

Credit or debit card - You can donate using Visa, MasterCard, American Express (Amex), Discover Card, JCB, Diners Club and Union Pay. You can donate using a credit or debit card via this form. You will automatically receive a receipt via email when donating via card.

Bank Transfer - You can donate via bank transfer using this form. Please note you will need to manually request a receipt (if needed) for bank transfers. Please also note that donations are not tax deductible for the reasons above.

What processing fees are involved in a donation transaction to Good Ancestors?

Card fees:

  • 1.4% + $0.30 (non-Amex transactions)
  • 1.75% + $0.30 for Amex transactions
  • 2.9% + $0.30 for international transactions (Wallets included)

Bank fees (BECS Direct Debit):

  • 1% + $0.30 (capped at $3.50 per transaction)
